Lordswood Ladies 4-2 Hassocks

Date: 16th October 2005
Status: League (SECWFL Premier Division)
The Lordswood Ladies learning curve took another upward turn on Sunday when they hosted Hassocks from Sussex. The visitors were straight out of the blocks and had scored within the opening minute. Lordswood remained calm and twenty minutes later had equalised via mid fielder Laura Brown. The first half was evenly matched with most of the possession going to Lordswood in the Hassocks half but with the visitors making frequent breaks and testing the ever more reliable Lordswood defense.

The second half saw Lords Ladies up the tempo of the game and start to dominate the game. First, Genie Ward scored after 10 minutes followed by an equaliser from Hassocks then Ward scored again to reinstate the lead. Lordswood had all of the possession now although the visitors were still dangerous on the break. The final goal went to Billie Doherty which left the final score Lordswood 4 – Hassocks 2.

Manager Mick Fiorentini said, "That was an impressive all round performance, every one did everything they were supposed to".
