Stockport v Sheffield Wednesday

SWLFC continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 1-1 at Stockport on Sunday. Stacey Aisthorpe again scored a late equaliser to ensure the Owls efforts didn't go unrewarded.

The result against the side that finished third last year in the Northern Division was the first points the Owls have taken against County in three attempts. The afternoon was marred however by a broken nose for Emma Woolley after a collision with a Stockport player. Boss Christine McCann was however pleased that the Owls remain unbeaten thus far:

"Stockport were a very strong side last season, and we failed to take any points from them, this year we have played them once and already gained a point from them, which indicates to me that we have inproved. As with Villa last week Stockport are and excellent side and I'd have happily settled for a point before we arrived."

The Owls entertain newcomers Coventry at Staveley next week KO 2pm. Coventry drew 0-0 with Lincoln in week 3.

Reserves

The Reserves played their first match of the season in a specially arranged match against Doncaster Parklands Rovers.

The match was split into three games of thirty minutes to allow new manager Terry Nicholson time to review his squad for the coming season. The Owls started brightly in the first game and could have been two up in five minutes, they eventually lost that game 1-2, they then changed formations and were defeated 1-4 in the second part of the match before again changing formation and drawing the final game 0-0. Overall they lost the match 2-6.

The Reserves commence their Northern / Midlands Division 2 campaign next week when they entertain Coventry.
