Under 11’s

Blue Division

Corby Cougars Sparta 10; Earls Barton United 0.

A strong Sparta side proved too much for Barton, who were playing their 1st ever League game. They made a good start, with Kelly Sutton prominent, but Sparta then began to dominate, Sinead Cunningham opening the scoring from a superb cross from Jamie-Leigh Connor. Cunningham went on to complete a 1st half hat trick, with Connor also on target before the break. Connor added 3 more after the interval, including 1 from the halfway line, with the others coming from Leah Cudone, Emma Guy and Rebeka Luecke, with a well-struck penalty. The home side could have had more but for some fine goalkeeping by Barton’s Alix Davison.

Kettering Generals 4; Corby Cougars Porto 0.

After a fairly even 1st half, which saw Lauren Webster open the scoring, Generals began to get on top with a good team performance. Webster added her 2nd and there was also a brace for Hannah Pendered, 1 of which came from a superb corner by Donna Anniwell.

Yellow Division

Sunnyside Warriors Red 4; City Colts 8.

Colts always had the edge in a well contested match, which saw Warriors within 2 goals of their visitors until late in the game. The main difference was the pace and skill of the City front runners, Courtney Davy-Ward and Kimsley Avery-Hawkins, which brought a nap hand for the former and a double for the latter, Emily Body notching the other. The Sunnyside keeper made some outstanding saves, while Jodie Elliman’s hard work in the Warriors’ attack was rewarded with a hat trick, Charlotte Brooks grabbing the other.

Under 12’s

Division 1

Corby Cougars Inter 10; Irchester Romans 0.

A 2nd win for Inter puts them top of the League. Mickeala Gillon accounted for half the tally; Alex Hindwood hit a hat trick, with Georgia McEachran and Katie Hay accounting for the others.

Kingsthorpe 2; Brixworth Juniors 3.

Kingsthorpe made a positive start and took a deserved lead through Sarah Knowles. Brixworth hit back to lead at the break and extended their advantage midway through the 2nd half with a well-struck free kick. Kingsthorpe retaliated, with Knowles adding her 2nd, but, though they then had more of the possession, they couldn’t force an equaliser. Hannah Richards, with a double, and Sally Valentine were on target for Brixworth.

Peterborough Diamonds 2; Peterborough Azure 2.

A superb 2nd half fight back earned a point in an exciting local derby. Azure took an early lead when Shay Stanford converted a penalty after Emma Orgar had brought her down. After a spell of Diamonds pressure, the same player added the 2nd with a deflected shot in a breakaway. Diamonds replied soon after the interval, Jade Bell netting from Hayley Warren’s pass. They thought they had levelled when Demi Barai’s long shot appeared to have crossed the line, but they did restore parity when, following Anna Faux’s corner, Barai had her shot blocked and Bell pounced on the rebound. Barai almost won the game late on, her long-range effort hitting the underside of the bar and rebounding to safety.

Division 2

City Colts 2; Wolvertoon Wasps 2.

In an entertaining game, Wasps led twice but in the end were held to their 2nd draw of the season. Early Wasps pressure led to Siobhan Lane putting them ahead, but Colts were spurred into action and Amy Hacks cut in from the right to hammer a great low shot into the corner. An end to end half saw both sides create chances and it was Wasps who regained the advantage, Joanne Brandon netting just before the interval. The 2nd half saw Colts revitalised but, despite almost constant pressure, they could only manage 1 goal, Leigh Dean heading home a corner.

Heelands Rangers 8; Parklands Tigers 3.

Rangers opened up a 3 point lead at the top with victory in a good game. Illness meant Tigers fielded only 9 players, but some good saves by stand in keeper Kitty Hitchcock kept Heelands out early on. However, they opened up a 4-0 lead before Rachael Austin raced clear to pull 1 back. Rangers added another before halftime and grabbed 3 in a more even 2nd half that saw Parklands dangerous on the break, Austin completing her hat-trick, her 3rd being a penalty just before full time. For Heelands, skipper Heidi Bushall showed her class when netting 4, with both Ashleigh Vendy and Eilish Duggan netting twice.

Kettering United 6; Kettering Town 0.

This local derby saw United open their League programme with a convincing win, condemning Town to their 3rd successive defeat. Laura Forde did most damage with a hat trick, Leah West added a double and Robyn Hambrook was also on target.

Under 14’s

7 a side

Corby Cougars Roma 11; Kettering Town 2.

A hard fought game saw Nicole Tinto give Roam a 2nd minute advantage. She soon added 2 more and then combined with Alex Morgan to set up Chelsea Smith. Tinto and Morgan each netted again before Georgina Sturgess reduced the arrears, though Tinto notched the 7th before halftime. The 2nd period was more closely contested, Smith completing her hat trick and Tinto her double hat trick before Natasha Logue ended the scoring with her 1st goal for the team. Town battled well all through and got some reward when Sturgess grabbed her 2nd.

Heelands Rangers 5; Parklands Tigers 6.

A dramatic comeback earned Tigers the points in an exciting encounter. Though Parklands started well, Rangers took a 2 goal lead before Rachel Lowden and Manisha Hellan levelled. By halftime, Heelands had restored their 2 goal advantage, which Lowden reduced before the hosts scored again. Tigers showed great spirit to recover, with Lowden completing her hat-trick, Charley Cropp grabbing an equaliser and Hellan netting the winner with a couple of minutes to go. For Heelands, skipper Emma Morris hit a hat trick, with Zoe Abbs and Emily Maycock also on target, the home side’s keeper performing well to keep her team in the game when Parklands got on top.

Kettering Orchard Park 14; Corby Cougars Lazio 0.

2 wins out of 2 now for Park who produced their best performance to date. The outstanding Bethan Morson went nap, Amy Cartwright netted 4, Hannah Hewitt hit her 2nd hat trick in successive games and Jody Rogers added a double.

Welland Valley 3; Earls Barton United 2.

Valley just edged home after making a good start and going ahead when Lauren Pollard set up Stacey Chaplin. Barton were soon level through Amy Moore but, despite having more of the play, they found themselves behind at the interval, Pollard netting for the hosts. With Jade Brayfield showing fine form, Barton came out strongly after the break and Moore grabbed the 2nd equaliser. Barton looked for the winner but, with Sophie King outstanding in defence, Valley held out and grabbed a late winner when Chaplin notched her 2nd.

11 a side

Division 1

Bedford & District Lazio 4; Leighton United 1.

This Bedfordshire derby saw Lazio make an excellent start, Ella Meadowcroft netting early and Christine Diffey hitting a 20 yard thunderbolt. Leighton hit back well and were rewarded when Danika McElroy pulled 1 back from Luis Nudo’s long through ball. With Sophie Howdle giving a mature midfield performance, Bedford extended their lead 10 minutes into the 2nd half with Meadowcroft’s 2nd. Amey Sinfield and McElroy went close for United before Meadowcroft completed her hat trick to make the game safe.

Kettering United 3; Newport Pagnell Town 5.

Town opened their League programme with a hard earned win as United tasted defeat for the 2nd time. The Pagnell goals were shared between Daisy Farrugia, Louise Dyer, Lily Hunt, Rachel Marlow and Emily Mann with United replying through Siana Adams, with a double, and Lauren Hoyle.

Kingsthorpe 4; Peterborough Azure 1.

Azure had most of the 1st half play and took a deserved lead Lorna Gallagher, who soon after saw her effort hit a post. Kristen Peters levelled midway through the half, but a turning point possibly came in the 2nd half when the home keeper made a fine save from Laura Rudd and saw her side go straight up the other end to regain the lead through Peters. She went on to cap a fine performance by completing her hat trick, with Jade Robinson adding the other.

Moulton Magpies 2; Wolverton Wasps 2.

In a game that was a credit to both sides, Magpies were soon reduced to 10 players when their central defender pulled a hamstring. Chelsea Jeffery gave Wasps the lead only for Leah Stacey to level before halftime and Mel Behan to put Magpies ahead after the break. Moulton then pushed for a 3rd but Wolverton weathered the storm and hit back, home keeper Carly Knight making some fine saves. Wasps got their reward near the end when Chloe Beale levelled the scores.

Blue Division

Peterborough Diamonds 0; Corby Cougars Ajax 1.

Ajax maintained their 1 point lead with a narrow victory. But Diamonds were indebted to their keeper, Rosie Nicholson, for keeping the score down. The only time she was beaten was the 20th minute when Shauna Brierley notched the only goal with a shot high into the net.

Raunds Tigers 0; Ise Lodge 5.

Tigers showed much improved form, with Aimee Morris outstanding in goal and Marie Toon causing some problems to the Ise defence. But, with Laura Kitching solid in defence and Georgia Russell driving them on, 10 player Ise netted 3 times in the 1st have, through Rosie Maclot, with a double and Zoe Noakes. Clever play by Jaime Dunkley led to Maclot scoring twice more after the break.

Vicarage Farm 2; Rushden Rangers 10.

Rangers sit a point behind Ajax with a game in hand after a convincing win. They penned Farm back in their on half for much of the 1st period, netting 4 times and added another 2 before Farm had a good spell and reduced the arrears through Justine Fasani and Jemma Millward. But Rushden redoubled their efforts to go into double figures, Rebeka Yates hitting a double hat trick and being well supported by Kayleigh Malin, Rebecca Brookes, Terri Baker and Natasha Smith.

Yellow Division

Bedford & District Valencia 1; St Martins 5.

After an even opening, St Martins took the lead through Hope Donaghy after good work by Kelley McCallum. A great lob from outside the area by Danielle Jarrett brought Valencia level at the interval, but St Martins had the better of the 2nd period and restored their lead through skipper Kaya James. Donaghy’s shot took a deflection for the 3rd goal and a slick passing move brought the 4th, finished off by Sammie Bull. Dionne Bell’s free kick found James for a clinical finish, though Bedford never gave up and were unfortunate not to score again.

Duston Knights 11; Bilton Ajax 1.

Duston started brightly, Jodie Brooks hitting the bar before Amy Willis claimed a hat trick. Becky Broadley pulled 1 back for Ajax, but Knights added 3 more before halftime, courtesy of Eileen Brandley, Olivia Atkinson and Emma Woods. With Duston putting in an outstanding team performance, they added 5 more after the interval, thanks to Brooks, Samantha Jones, Willis, Kasey Fairhurst and Atkinson.

Under 16’s

Division 1

Cambridge City 5; Bedford & District 2.

City took a 15th minute lead through Becky Hewson, but Bedford were level at halftime after converting a penalty. Cambridge took control after the break, Hewson restoring the lead from Jodie Tucker’s pass, Megan Carpenter firing in the 3rd after a mazy run and substitute Sarah Heneker grabbing a brace before Bedford notched their 2nd right on full time, their scorers being Carissa Kavorovski and Victoria Mawdsley.

Ise Lodge 2; Sunnyside Warriors 0.

With Beth Poppleton in fine form at the back, Ise looked well on top throughout but could only breach a resolute defence twice. Emma Dunmore gave them an interval lead with a superb 20-yard strike and Kim Walton added the 2nd from close range after the break.

Newport Pagnell Town 10; Earls Barton United 2.

A well organised Pagnell, despite only fielding 10 players eventually proved too strong for Barton. They went 2 up in 10 minutes before Sinead Barry pulled 1 back in Barton’s best spell. Town added 3 more before the interval and continued to dominate in a 2nd half that saw both keepers substituted through injury and they pulled well before Catherine Sealey fired home for Barton. Hayley Ash went nap for Pagnell, Leanne Lewis notched 4 and Paris Hoyles added the other.

Peterborough Azure 5; Kettering United 2.

Azure recovered from a bad start to earn a convincing win. United were ahead through Emma Ogden within 43 seconds, but Azure hit back with Julie Ikeda completing a 1st half hat trick, all 3 times chipping the keeper. Ikeda added the 4th from a free kick after Rachel Dance was brought down but they were pegged back when Steph Donald grabbed United’s 2nd. Dance completed the scoring when she beat a defender to go 1 on 1 with the keeper.

Division 2

Brixworth Juniors 1; Kingsthorpe 14.

The visitors led 8-0 at halftime thanks to doubles from Lucy Bateman, Vicky Morris, Sophie Walton and Danielle Charlton, the latter hitting 2 in 2 minutes. Brixworth showed improved form after the break, pulling 1 (scorer not known), only for Bateman to complete her hat trick with a superb 30-yard lob. The 10th was an own goal from a Toni McCarthy cross, defender Kim Lappin added a rare goal, Bateman grabbed her 4th and Walton and Charlton also completed their hat tricks.

Drayton Grange 0; Flitwick Eagles 3.

Most of the 1st half play was confined to the Drayton half, with Kelly Lee netting the only goal. Flitwick continued to work hard after the interval and clinched a well-deserved victory with 2 further goals by Lee.

Heelands Rangers 6; Bedford & District Sky Blues 1.

The score line flatters Rangers somewhat as Blues contributed greatly to the game. The Heelands strike force was always a handful with Leah Hayden hitting a hat trick and Jemima Gates contributing a double. Alison Irwin got reward for her efforts with the 6th. The Bedford response came from Julie Cullip.

Kettering Town 6; Vicarage Farm 0.

Town’s 2nd successive 6-0 win keeps them in a 4 way tie for the League leadership. Both sides had their chances in a tight 1st half, a single goal separating the sides, but, after conceding another early in the 2nd period, Farm had to push forward and Town exploited the gaps to devastating effect. Charlotte Penney helped herself to a hat trick, Melissa Thomas netted twice and Kylie Evans completed the tally.
