Tina Theune-Meyer is the first female coach of the national team, having taken the reigns almost ten years ago and during that time she has transformed Germany into the powerhouse of ladies football they are today.
The German national team has taken a stronghold of the European Championships, winning the last three finals in 1995, 1997 and 2001. To commemorate the German sides’ dominance of the tournament, UEFA confirmed that the nation would be allowed to keep the existing trophy, after the side completed a remarkable hat-trick of European Championship final victories in 2001.
