Ringwood A win again

Ringwood went to Winchester to play Southampton Saints for the second time in two weeks. The game started slowly as both sides got used to the strong cold wind. Ringwood were the first to settle down, kept the ball on the ground and started passing. With Lisa, Jess G and Kirsty in midfield and picking each other out nicely it wasn’t long before Lisa and Jess had put Ringwood 0-3 ahead. Saints then pulled a goal back with a cross come lob which court Jess P in goal off her line. And with a little help from the wind, fell nicely over the keeper to bounce on the line and in. 1-3. Saint applied the pressure sensing they could get back in this game. Forcing three corners but were unable to find the net. But Ringwood did, with a quick counter attack, and run down the right by Kirsty finding Jess G with perfectly waited cross through there defence for her to side foot it home. 1-4. Billie-jo and Chloe D defending Saints long balls into space well and Jess P in goal getting to the ball first and quickly putting the ball back in their half, frustrated their opponents. It was one of these balls that found Lisa on the left, passed to Jess in the middle, quickly putting it wide for Kirsty to run on to down the right who took it into the box and made it 1-5. Chloe C came on for Jess G and Millie (making her debut for Ringwood) came on for Lisa. Saints kept attacking but still they couldn’t score.
Half Time 1-5
Second half started well good end-to-end football and positive defending from both sides. Chloe D pushing up for Ringwood saw her have lots of chances but Saints denied her. Their hard work at the back and a quick counter attack of their own got them a second goal. 2-5. Ringwood made some changes Chloe D went in midfield to try and find the goal but again Saints defence and keeper kept her from finding the net. After battling hard to stop Ringwood from adding to their score line, Saints saw Jess and Lisa get another goal each to make the final score 2-7 and take the three points for Ringwood. Southampton Saints Player of the match: Jess G.
