PASE Women's Academy Presentation 2003

On the 20th June 2003 the PASE Women’s Academy held their annual presentation day. Governors of Bedford College, the Chief Executive and Academy staff were present at the event. The girls were awarded for their achievements for the year and in particular their performances against some of the top academies.

The standard of the girl’s this year has been excellent and every single member of the squad has improved in their football ability and achieved a good amount of success in their chosen academic course.

The highlights of the year were a 1-1 draw against Arsenal Academy and reaching the final of the Diamonds Cup only to be beaten on golden goal.

The winners of the trophies at this year’s presentation were as follows:

Player's Player - Sam Mather – An excellent season, Sam has a great amount of skill and ability.

Manager's Player – Kirsty Morley – Kirsty has impressed this season, a county player and just signed for Fulham Ladies, Congratulations

Most Improved Player – Jodie Goddard – Jodie has improved tenfold this year and always gives 100% effort, she should be proud of what she has achieved this year on the PASE scheme.

Congratulations girls, all the PASE staff are looking forward to next year.

PASE girls runners up in Diamond Cup 2003

On Monday 26th May 2003 The Bedford College PASE Academy took part in Rushden & Diamonds inaugural 6 - side Diamond Cup.

The PASE team were drawn in a group with US Valerio Vixens B, Haringey Borough and Sutton Coldfield. Due to a couple of other teams pulling out the PASE girls played each team twice and flew through their group stage with some excellent football being played and some well worked goals.

The girls next opponents were Ipswich town and again the team came out strong and brushed aside Ipswich with a 2-1 win. Hannah Cave and Sam Mather scoring the goals.

In the semi final PASE were drawn against Rushden & Diamonds 'B' team. This was a tough game and Bedford worked as a team and shut the Rushden players down well. Janine Holland put the girls through to the final with a good goal to make the game 1-0 to Bedford.

To make the final was a brilliant achievement for the girls who all play for local clubs outside of the Academy. The final was played in the Stadium at Rushden in front of quite a large crowd. The other finalists were Rushden & Diamonds 'A' team. Rushden & Diamonds have just been promoted to the South East Combination league so the final was against tough opposition. The PASE team battled and passed the ball around well. Rushden had few chances on goal and the game was mainly played in midfield. At full time there was still no score so it moved into extra time golden goal and Rushden just nicked it after keeper Kirsty Morley made an excellent save but couldn't keep the rebound out.

The PASE girls should all be very proud and they showed that the 12 hours professional coaching they get from coach Gary Lant pays off.

Any one aged 16-19 interested in coming to the Academy should contact Nina through the femaleSOCCER.net Support Team.
