FA Cup trail begins

Four Cornish sides begin the FA Women's Cup trail this Sunday (September 5th), with 1st Qualifying Round games, worth £100 to the winners. Only Madron of the four are at home, with Reading Girls their visitors, who won the Berks & Bucks League last season. Two local sides head for Bath, where there's an all-South West Premier clash between Team Bath and Newquay, with Launceston facing Bath City, two divisions their senior. Penzance face the long trip to Herefordshire to take on Ross Town of the West Midlands Division 1 South. All matches kick-off at 2pm.

August 29th

Cornwall League IT Associates Cup (Preliminary Round)

Stoke Climsland 11-0 Falmouth Town
Stoke Climsland did enough in their 1st Leg IT Associates Cup tie to make the return a formality, beating Falmouth Town 11-0. But credit to the visitors, who made the long trip with only nine players.

Sarah Blowey and Kate Bourne both grabbed four goals, with one each for Natalie Ryder, Rosy Fierek and Kerry Edwards .
Wadebridge Town P-P St.Breward
(Wadebridge could not field a team) .

Sandy Lodge Division 1 Cup 1st Round 1st Leg

Liskeard Athletic 3-1 St. Blazey
Liskeard Athletic won the first leg of their Division 1 Cup tie with St. Blazey but were disappointed to concede a late Lauren Dowrick goal, which will make for a tighter return match.

Liskeard's Player of the Match, Helen King-Scott, scored early in each half, with Charlotte Hobbs netting on the half-hour in the 3-1 win. The visitors Player of the Match was goalkeeper Tracey Johns.
Hayle 1-4 Mullion
Mullion claimed a 4-1 first-leg lead from the Division 1 Cup game at Hayle, all goals coming in the second-half. Becky Hall got the first and Elise Griffiths the second on her debut.

Hayle pulled a goal back with a good finish by Amy Brooks from a left wing cross. Becky Hall added the third and then it was her cross that brought about an own goal.
Bude Town P-P Penryn
Penryn's Cornwall Trophies Cup Preliminary Round tie with Penzance Reserves is likely to be rearranged for this Thursday (September 2nd), kick-off 7.30pm at Penlee Park. The game has been switched to Penzance, as Penryn were unable to stage a game under lights.

Newquay 1-2 Scunthorpe United
Newquay lost a close friendly with Northern Combination side, Scunthorpe United. The visitors goalkeeper had a great game, keeping Newquay out as the hosts dominated the first-half. But Scunthorpe struck twice after the break, the keeper flapping at the first, the second coming from a free kick.
