UEFA Women's Championship: Bosnia-Herzegovina v Romania

Romania held by improving hosts
Unbeaten Romania suffered a setback in their bid for promotion in the UEFA European Women's Championship as they were held 0-0 in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Irish race
With two games to go before this afternoon's match, Romania were four points behind Group 5 leaders the Republic of Ireland - who have completed their fixtures. Only the group winners are guaranteed a two-legged play-off against one of the bottom sides from the four championship pools, with the best runners-up from Groups 5-7 also progressing. The home side, who were completing their programme and already certain of fourth place, held six points from two victories against bottom side Kazakhstan.
Romania denied
The visitors dominated the first half, and Daniela Pufulete went close twice, only for home goalkeeper Dijana Brkovic to keep her side on level terms. Two minutes after the break Sabina Pehic threatened for Bosnia-Herzegovina and her side looked increasingly comfortable as the game went on and were good value for their point. Home coach Dzevad Bekic said: "We are very happy because of the great match and result. The visitors were the favourites, but we played well and achieved a good result."
Final chance
Despite being held, Romania will pip Ireland to a play-off place on head-to-head record if they beat third-placed Croatia on 2 October in the final game in the group. Romania will aim to compete in the top level for the first time since the 1997 edition, having been denied in play-offs during the 1999 and 2001 cycles.

Final score

Bosnia-Herzegovina 0-0 Romania
