Stone Dominoes Ladies 2 – Stockingford Ladies 2

2016-08-29

2nd placed Stone played 3rd placed Stockingford in Stones last game of the season. Also goal keeper Charlotte and striker Hannah Perrys last game for the club. The dominoes started well, with lots of attacking play giving Hannah Perry, Mollie Prime and Jordan Timmins-Ray shots on goal. 20 minutes in and without a goal, Stone stepped off the gas and allowed STockingford to get themselves into the game. The Dominoes back four of Lisa Elliott, Simone Kelsall, Hayley Mason and Bethan Woodings stayed strong, especially with the attacking midfielders joining force with the Stockingford strikers. All four players put in some quality challenges to avoid any shooting opportunities for the visitors. Jordan Timmins-Ray broke free from the defence after a through ball by Lacey Smith, Timmins-Ray casually placing it into the back of the net. Stockingford soon replied with an equaliser after some good play in midifield gave the defence and keeper no chance to clear the ball away. On the stroke of half time, Stone were awarded a corner. Hannah Perry managed to curl the ball with her left foot around the keeper giving Stone the lead. half time 2-1.

Second Half

The second half was end to end action with both teams equal in possession and shots on target. Substitutions were made and Vikki Garner and Nat Williams came on, Stockingford changed their formation slightly and began to get the better of the home side. They were awarded with an equaliser with 15minutes to go. Stone picked themselves up and again pressed to look for the winner. Laura Baskerville came close but her shot just went wide of the near post. Nat Williams and Vikki Garner also had chances but nothing that troubled the keeper. With 2 minutes to go, Jordan Timmins-Ray was through on goal, all she had to do was hit the target. However she fired the ball just over the bar , Stones last attempt on goal.

Full Time

Full time score 2-2. Player of the match was Mollie Prime, a striker who has played the last half a season in central defence. Prime was on the left wing and showed her attacking skill. Chasing balls down, making runs off the ball and creating goal scoring opportunities. The Dominoes Ladies are still sat in 2nd place, however Stockingford can over take if they win their last two games. The ladies are finished for the season now, and are looking to run some open sessions for anyone to attend in June. More details to follow nearer the time. Thanks for your support with the match reports, its great to know local people know of the ladies side and follow them due to your help. TEAM: C Perry, Elliott, Mason, Kelsall, Woodings, Price, Baskerville, Smith, Prime, H Perry, Timmins-Ray SUBS: Williams, Garner GOALS: Timmins-Ray 20, H Perry 45 POM: Mollie Prime
