Rhian Wilkinson has resigned as head coach of National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) champions the Portland Thorns despite being cleared after an investigation into her conduct.

The ex-Canada defender said she and a Thorns player expressed "feelings for one another" but "it went no further".

She reported herself to Portland's human resources and was "completely exonerated" after an investigation.


England captain Leah Williamson has returned to the Arsenal squad after two months out with a foot injury.

The centre-back sustained the injury during international training at the beginning of October and was ruled out of friendlies against the United States and Czech Republic.

Brazilian defender Rafaelle Souza, 31, is also back in the matchday squad, having been out with a fractured foot.


Alabama soccer coach Wes Hart knows what it takes to win championships. As an assistant, he helped Florida State win the national title in 2014.

"I saw glimpses over the last couple seasons," Hart said. "You could kind of see something special growing over the last couple seasons." The Crimson Tide ranked No. 1 in the SEC in every offensive category in 2022, including points, goals and goals per game.
