Peterborough United Ladies FC: U11 Saturday
1 November 2003
Sunnyside v Peterborough United LFC
Result 1 - 4

Peterborough United Ladies U11’s bounced back from last weeks defeat in fine style at Sunnyside running out 4-1 winners.

The game started with Posh attacking the Warriors goal and this pattern continued for much of the first half. The first goal came when a Zoe Watkins shot was parried by the keeper and Olivia Slater was on hand to slot home the rebound. Sunnyside proved to be a quite resilient side defensively and it was a little while before Posh extended their lead. The second goal came from a good passing move which was soundly finished off by Zoe Watkins. Sunnyside continued to work hard and pulled a goal back before the break and were starting to cause a few problems for Posh.

Posh made a couple of changes at half time and the fresh legs helped them to regain their momentum in midfield. Following a Sunnyside corner Shay Stanford picked the ball up in her area and ran the length of the pitch before firing home from 10 yards. Posh continued to dominate and a fourth goal was added when Laura Bigginton lobbed the keeper to score. The only danger for Posh after that came when a Sunnyside shot through a crowded area only to see keeper Kloe Bennett make a superb stop low to her right.

Assistant Manager Vicki Tyler said: "We played better as a team today. The ball was passed around much more and we created some good chances from those moves. The goals were all taken well and we worked hard in all areas of the pitch. Player of the match went to Olivia Slater who had her best game so far. Olivia worked hard up front constantly trying to create chances and was on hand to score the first".

Next match is at home against Kettering United on Sat 8th Nov at Bushfield Sports Centre kick off 11.00am.

Peterborough United LFC v City Colts
Result 11-0

Posh Ladies Under 13’s poor start to the season ended in spectacular fashion with an excellent performance against City Colts of Milton Keynes at Bushfield on Saturday scoring 11 without reply.

Posh started brightly and applied pressure from the off and were soon rewarded with the lead when Jessica O’Sullivan followed a shot which the keeper allowed to slip free from her grasp and poked it home. This was followed by Jade Bingham’s finish from close range and a second from O’Sullivan to make the score 3-0.

Posh continued to apply most of the pressure and this saw Lorna Gallacher get onto the scoresheet with her third of the season and this was added to by O’Sullivan completing her hat-trick by dancing through the Colts defence to beat the keeper. Just before the break skipper Chanade Henderson added the sixth goal with a powerful run and beautifully placed shot into the bottom corner.

After the break, Natalie Gaches was introduced to replace Gallacher and she made an instant impact with her first goal for the club from close range following a good cross from skipper Henderson.

Substitute Jordan Biggs also made an impact following her entry into the game as she finished off a good move on the right which culminated in player of the match Becky Smith delivering the ball across the area for Biggs to sidefoot home.

Due to the now constant pressure, Posh forced successive corners. From the second, the ball bounced loose and was partly cleared to the edge of the box where Danniella Pinnelli took one touch before hitting a half volley from 20 yards out just under the bar for the ninth goal. Gaches took the score into double figures with her second and Henderson finished the scoring with her second and the eleventh for Posh.

Manager Dominic Sorrell said: "This performance has been coming for a while. Last week, we should have completed our first win, but failed to take the chances whereas today was a different matter. We have worked hard in training to put things right and the benefits of our hard work are obvious. Next week we go to Raunds looking to chalk up our second victory."

Peterborough United Ladies FC: U15
Saturday, 1 November 2003
Peterborough Diamonds 2 Peterborough United LFC 10

Peterborough United Ladies FC U15 continue to dominate the league after another superb victory.

Peterborough Ladies U15's continued their winning run with a 10-2 victory against Peterborough Diamonds on saturaday. Posh totally dominated the game scoring a six goal cushion in the first half, with forwards Julie Ikeada and Ashley Palmer each getting a hat trick. This would not have been possible without the close support from midfielders Samara Iredale, Frankie Kelly and Megan Bonner.

Posh continued their relentless pressure from the start of the second half and were awarded two free kicks in first 10 mins of play. Both of these were delivered by Samara Iredale and resulted in two more goals for Posh. The first was a keeper fumble that Megan Bonner slotted home. The second a 30yd strike over the defence wall into the top righthand corner. Peterborough Diamonds pulled one back in the 25th minute in a goal mouth scramble from a corner kick. But, this was quickly replied with two more from Posh, a fourth goal from Julie Ikeda, for topscorer of the match, and a second from Megan Bonner. This put the game well out of reach for the Diamonds but did not stop them from getting the final goal of the match, a well timed run through the Posh defence by forward Katie Shields with only the keeper to beat.
